Mandi (HP), Jul 4 A court in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district sentenced three convicts to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on each in the murder case of a home guard.
Sessions Judge Abira Basu further sentenced the three convicts, namely Sanjay, Manish Kumar and Pankaj Soni, residents of Sarkaghat, for three years' rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 30000 for voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant to deter them from performing their official duties.
The sentence was pronounced on Friday and the copy of the order was made available on Saturday. The accused would also undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and pay a fine of Rs 20000 for assaulting or using criminal force against a public servant.
On December 31, 2016, two home guard jawans Joginder Singh and Dila Ram were on night duty. During patrolling, they spotted a motor cycle driven in a zig zag manner. When they intercepted the vehicle, two more motor cycles came at the spot and four persons started thrashing both the jawans.
Joginder Singh was badly injured and died during treatment.
