Abhishek Ghosalkar murder case: Mumbai court allows polygraph test on two suspects

Mumbai, Jun 17 A special court in Mumbai on Wednesday permitted the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct a polygraph test on two suspects in Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Abhishek Ghosalkar's murder case following their voluntary consent.

The court, however, rejected the Central probe agency's plea to subject accused Amarendra Kumar Mishra to the same test, citing his lack of consent.

Special judge Ajit Yadav allowed the CBI to conduct polygraph tests on two suspects/witnesses, Mehul Parekh and Ryan Gore, after verifying that they had given their voluntary, written consent.

The CBI had submitted that the polygraph test of Mishra, Parekh, and Gore is "absolutely necessary" as the trio prima facie had the knowledge of the facts and circumstances surrounding the murder of Ghosalkar in 2024.

Judge Yadav noted that he personally enquired with both Parekh and Gore to confirm their willingness.

"On verification, it has been found that they have voluntarily given their consent for the said test and they have every knowledge regarding the effect of the outcome," the court said.

Mauris Noronha, a local businessman-cum- social worker, allegedly fatally shot Ghosalkar during a Facebook Live in suburban Borivali in February 2024 before killing himself.

He allegedly used the pistol of Mishra, his bodyguard, in the crime.

Noronha, who faced many cases, was earlier arrested in a rape case and spent nearly five months behind bars.

Noronha, who had political aspirations, suspected that Ghosalkar had implicated him in the rape case, leading to a tussle, police had said.
