Lucknow, May 14 The Allahabad High Court directed the Centre on Thursday to take a decision on a plea moved by Karnataka-based BJP worker Vignesh Shishir, who has recently been in the spotlight for filing petitions against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, seeking a Z-plus security cover within three weeks.
The Lucknow bench of the court observed that the petitioner has already submitted a representation before the Centre and said the same should be decided expeditiously.
The order was passed by a bench of Justices Shekhar B Saraf and A K Chaudhary on a plea moved by Shishir.
Hearing the same petition on August 28, 2025, the court had directed the Union home ministry to provide round-the-clock security to the petitioner by deploying a personal security officer from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
However, through a fresh application, the petitioner sought a Z-plus security cover, contending that the threat perception against him had increased substantially and the existing security arrangement was inadequate.
He has also sought security at his residence.
Representing the Centre in the court, senior advocate S B Pandey informed the judges that he has not received instructions on whether any decision has been taken on the petitioner's representation seeking Z-plus security.
Taking note of the submission, the court directed the authorities concerned to take a decision within three weeks.
