New Delhi, May 7 A Delhi court has dismissed the bail plea of a man accused in a gruesome 2019 murder in Sarojini Nagar here, in which the victim was allegedly stabbed to death, beheaded and the headless torso dumped in a drain.
Additional Sessions Judge Dhirendra Rana was hearing the fourth regular bail plea of accused Sunny, against whom a case was registered at the Sarojini Nagar police station under various penal provisions, including murder and criminal conspiracy.
In an order dated May 5, the court said the accused, along with others, allegedly murdered the victim Niranjan in a “pre-planned and brutal manner” on April 7, 2019.
Noting the allegations, it said, “After consuming intoxicants, co-accused Suraj caught hold of the neck of the deceased, whereas accused/applicant Sunny caught hold of his hands, accused Amit held his legs, and Raju kept watch and accused Rohit inflicted fatal knife blows. Thereafter, the neck was cut, and the torso was disposed of in the underground drain.”
The court underlined that there were no “fresh” grounds for bail after the dismissal of the earlier bail applications.
“Allegations against the accused/applicant are serious in nature. Public witnesses are yet to be examined qua accused Suraj, Sunny and Amit. The accused was arrested four years after the incident, and there is every likelihood that the accused may again evade his presence,” the court said, dismissing the plea.
