Ranchi, May 12 The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday directed the Gumla SP and his predecessors since 2018 to appear before the court on June 9 in connection with a case involving a missing girl.
The court also ordered all investigating officers associated with the case since 2018 to be present in court.
A total of six SPs and several investigating officers, who served in Gumla during this period, will have to appear before the high court on June 9.
The six-year-old girl has been missing from Khora village in Gumla since 2018.
After failing to find the girl despite repeated efforts, her mother registered an FIR in 2020 and later filed a writ petition before the high court on September 19 last year.
The state government’s counsel informed the court that the missing minor has not yet been traced by the police.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted and sent to Mumbai, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu in search of the girl.
However, she remains untraced, the government counsel said.
The court examined the case diary and questioned the Gumla SP as to why a proper investigation had not been carried out.
The investigation conducted so far is not satisfactory, the high court observed.
