Jharkhand HC pulls up DGP over alleged assault on petitioner's relative by Bokaro police

Ranchi, Apr 7 The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday pulled up DGP Tadasha Mishra over the alleged assault on a relative of a petitioner whose 18-year-old daughter has been missing from Bokaro since July 31, 2025.

A division bench headed by Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad questioned Mishra on why criminal action had not been initiated against Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh in connection with the incident.

Rekha Devi, a Bokaro resident, had filed a habeas corpus petition, alleging that her uncle-in-law was picked up by police and subjected to third-degree treatment, sustaining serious injuries and currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Ranchi.

Mishra has been asked to again appear before the bench on April 9 with the report.

The petitioner’s counsel also told the court that despite an FIR at Pindrajoda police station, no concrete steps have been taken to locate the missing girl.
