Kota (Rajasthan) March 31 A 44-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court for killing his 38-year-old wife with an axe at their home while she was asleep, Public Prosecutor Rajendra Singh Solanki said on Tuesday.
In an order on Monday, the upper district and sessions court in Bundi's Nainwan subdivision also imposed a penalty of Rs 5,000 on the convict.
The accused, Vimal Kumar Meena, was arrested on April 14, 2022, after the victim’s father filed a case at the Nainwan police station on April 8, 2022, accusing him of killing his daughter, Mosam Bai, in Pai village.
The police had registered a case under Section 302 of IPC against Meena and began a probe, the lawyer said.
Statements of 26 witnesses were recorded during the trial, and 42 documents were exhibited to the court, he added.
