Meat shops must comply with Aircraft Rules ?

Delhi High Court Directs Compliance with Aircraft Rules for Meat Shop Licenses. Court mandates adherence to Rule 91 and MCD policies for de-sealing stalls at Dabri Mor Market  

In a significant ruling, the Delhi High Court, presided over by Justice Mini Pushkarna, has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to consider the representations made by petitioners seeking the withdrawal of revoked licenses and de-sealing of their meat stalls at Dabri Mor Market. The court emphasized strict compliance with Rule 91 of the Aircraft Rules, 1937, which prohibits activities attracting birds near aerodromes, and the MCD's licensing policy for meat shops.  

The petitioners, engaged in selling fish, chicken, and mutton, argued that they were legal owners of the stalls allotted by the DDA. They cited the MCD's policy dated December 20, 2023, which allows licensing for meat shops in residential areas, subject to specific conditions. Despite having previously held licenses, these were revoked, prompting the petitioners to approach the court.  

The court mandated that the petitioners adhere to all conditions specified under Rule 91, including proper waste management to prevent bird attraction, particularly vultures, and maintaining hygiene standards. The MCD and DDA were instructed to process the petitioners' applications within four weeks, ensuring the petitioners are exempt from paying fresh fees if previously paid.  

This ruling underscores the court's commitment to balancing business operations with public safety and environmental concerns, ensuring compliance with aviation safety regulations.

Compliance with Rule 91 of the Aircraft Rules, 1937, and adherence to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's Policy for granting licenses to sell meat, chicken, and fish from licensed platforms/thadas.
