New Delhi, Mar 30 The National Green Tribunal has sought responses from the Delhi government and others on a plea alleging non-compliance with its earlier directions regarding illegal dairy farms on the Yamuna floodplain.
The green body was hearing a plea seeking execution of the tribunal’s April 2024 directions to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to implement certain recommendations to address the illegal activity in the river’s floodplain.
In an order dated March 27, a bench of NGT chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava and expert member Afroz Ahmad noted that the plea claimed that DPCC’s compliance report of July 2025, which said there were no unauthorised dairy farms in the area, was incorrect.
The bench noted that the plea alleged dairy farms were still operating in the floodplain and the requisite action in terms of the tribunal’s order had not been taken.
“Issue notice to the respondent (Delhi government and others)...,” the tribunal said, posting the matter for further proceedings on July 15.
