Pune, May 12 The sessions court here on Tuesday extended till May 14 the police custody of the accused in the case related to the alleged rape and murder of a 4-year-old girl at Nasrapur in the district.
A charge sheet will be filed in the case in the next two to three days, officials said.
The prosecution sought an extension of the police custody, citing that the accused was giving vague answers about the incident.
The post-mortem report indicated that the injuries on the girl's body had been inflicted with a blunt weapon, but the accused did not give satisfactory answers about the weapon.
He also evaded the question where he had purchased the packet of snacks seen in his hand while taking the victim to a cowshed, and was not cooperating with the probe in general, the prosecution said.
The girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered by the accused on May 1, sparking massive outrage in the area.
