Jodhpur, Mar 18 The Rajasthan High Court has suspended Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajendra Sahu with immediate effect following a preliminary inquiry into "serious" allegations in six separate cases, according to an official order.
The High Court administration said the suspension is a precautionary step to ensure a fair and uninfluenced inquiry. Further proceedings will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
Sahu, an officer of the District Judge cadre, was serving as Additional District and Sessions Judge in Bhinmal in Jalore district.
He has been directed to report immediately to the Registrar General at the High Court here.
According to the official order issued on March 17 by Registrar General Chanchal Mishra, the decision was taken to prevent the judicial officer from influencing the ongoing inquiry.
The suspension has been ordered by Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma.
The court order states that the action has been taken under Rule 13 of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1958, read with a Full Court resolution dated October 30, 1971.
During the suspension period, Sahu will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules, and his headquarters has been shifted to the High Court in Jodhpur
There were complaints against Sahu from advocates and lawyers' association. Secretary of Bhinmal Bar Association, Shravan Dhaka, said that the Bar had submitted complaints, alleging misbehaviour with advocates and "serious nature of non-professionalism and unethical practices".
