Lucknow, May 19 The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday informed the Allahabad High Court that the process for safety audits of school buildings across the state would begin shortly.
It also told the court that meetings held between government officials and school managements yielded positive discussions and that fresh proposals regarding traffic management around educational institutions would soon be placed before the bench.
Taking note of the submissions, a bench of justices Alok Mathur and B R Singh of the high court's Lucknow bench fixed July 16 as the next date of hearing in the matter.
The order came on a public interest litigation filed by Gomti river bank residents.
During the hearing, the state government informed the court that two rounds of meetings had been conducted with school managements and officials. Several suggestions had emerged during the discussions regarding improvement of traffic arrangements around educational institutions in the city.
The court was further informed that the tender process for safety inspection of school buildings across Uttar Pradesh has been completed and the inspection work would commence soon.
The bench granted additional time to the authorities to conduct a detailed study and submit fresh proposals before the court.
