Telangana High Court Grants One-Day Interim Bail to Accused for Father's 15th-Day Death Ceremony

Court Imposes Strict Conditions to Maintain Public Order During the Interim Bail Period

The Telangana High Court, on March 13, 2026, granted a one-day interim bail to Mr. Gade Innaiah @ Gade Inna Reddy, allowing him to perform the 15th-day death ceremony of his father. The decision came after the Designated Court had earlier dismissed the appellant's request for an extension of interim bail.

Mr. Gade Innaiah, accused No.1 in a case investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), had initially been granted interim bail from March 8 to March 12, 2026, to perform last rites and rituals for his deceased father, who passed away on February 28, 2026. However, the appellant sought an extension to include the 15th-day ceremony, a significant ritual in his family’s customs, scheduled for March 14, 2026.

The appellant's counsel, Sri Akhil Ennam Shetty, representing Smt. Rajitha Kamatam, argued that the 15th-day ceremony was crucial as per their family traditions, involving a series of religious and customary practices. The High Court acknowledged the importance of the ceremony and noted that the Designated Court had not considered these aspects when denying the extension.

The High Court's order mandates that Mr. Gade Innaiah be escorted by police from Central Prison, Chanchalguda, to his village, 140 km away, and back. He is to leave the prison at 6:00 AM on March 14, 2026, and return by 7:00 PM the same day. The court emphasized maintaining peace and public order during this period, strictly prohibiting media interaction, slogan chanting, or any activity that might disturb tranquility.

Furthermore, the appellant is to refrain from influencing witnesses or committing any offenses while on bail. The court also instructed the police to monitor the appellant closely to ensure compliance with these conditions.

The State of Telangana Police, in collaboration with NIA officers, is tasked with overseeing the security and smooth execution of this interim bail. The High Court's decision underscores the balance between individual religious rights and maintaining public order in sensitive legal situations.

Bottom Line:

Interim bail granted for one day to accused to attend the 15th-day death ceremony of his father, with strict conditions to ensure no disturbance to public peace or misuse of the bail.
