Kota (Raj), Jun 19 A court here on Friday sentenced a woman and her lover to life imprisonment for killing her four-year-old daughter and dumping the body in Sarika forests six years ago.
"If a child is not safe and secure in the hands of her mother, where can she be safe -? the issue is worth brooding. Such sort of woman is a blot and stigma on motherhood and is not worth being called a mother nor has right to live free," Additional District and Sessions Court judge Sarita Dhakad observed while sentencing Teena alias Pushpa (32) and Prahalad Sahay (56).
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on each of them.
According to assistant public prosecutor Bharat Singh Asawat, Teena was married to Sumit Yadav, a resident of Borekheda village under Budadeet police station in Kota district.
She came in contact with Sahay in 2020 and left her husband's home with four-year-old Nandini in November that year to live with her lover.
Sahay took her to his Udawala village under Manhorpur police station in Jaipur district and they started living as husband-wife.
Meanwhile, Yadav lodged a missing report and police recovered Teena after five months of search.
When Teena was asked about her daughter, she initially made stories and when interrogated further, she confessed to have killed her.
She said Nandini accidentally fell from the rooftop on the evening of December 9, 2020 and sustained critical head injuries. Finding themselves unable to afford the treatment cost, they chose to kill the girl.
Accordingly, Teena and Sahay suffocated her to death with a shawl and a pillow while she was asleep and later dumped her body in a drain in the Sariska forests in Alwar on the intervening night of December 10 and 11.
Police added sections 302, 364, 201 and 34 of IPC in the existing case of missing report and launched search that resulted in the recovery of the skull of the girl and arrest of the couple on May 17, 2021.
On basis of investigation and DNA reports and statements of the witnesses, the court held Teena and Sahay guilty of brutal murder of her daughter and erasing evidence and awarded sentenced them to life imprisonment.
