HC appoints former Justice Gautam Kumar Chaudhary as chairman of fact-finding committee

Ranchi, Apr 7 The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday appointed retired Justice Gautam Kumar Chaudhary as the chairman of the fact-finding committee constituted to look into alleged irregularities in the 2016 Graduate Trained Teachers Combined Competitive Examinations, conducted by the state staff selection commission.

The court of Justice Deepak Roshan, while hearing a petition filed by Meena Kumari and several others, directed the government to ensure that all logistics and infrastructure are provided to former HC Justice Chaudhary in order to enable him to conduct proceedings of the fact-finding committee.

The court further observed that the committee should analyse all aspects of the matter and furnish its report within three months.

Earlier, former Justice SN Pathak was appointed as chairman of the committee, which he declined.

The petitioners alleged serious discrepancies in the preparation of the merit list, claiming that candidates scoring above the cut-off marks were not selected, while those with lower marks were appointed. Meena Kumari, one of the petitioners, said she was denied appointment despite securing marks above the cut-off.
