Mainpuri (UP), May 19 A court in the Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh has sentenced a man to life imprisonment in connection with the attempted rape of a three-year-old girl and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000, a government counsel said on Tuesday.
Public Prosecutor Shailendri Rajput said that Additional District Judge (POCSO) Jahendra Pal Singh delivered this verdict on Monday.
According to the prosecution, on December 9, 2023, the girl was playing near her home in a village. Akash alias Shivam, a resident of the same village, lured her away to a secluded spot and attempted to rape her.
Upon hearing the child's screams, villagers and family members rushed to the scene. They apprehended the accused and handed him over to the police.
Following an investigation, the police filed a chargesheet against him.
