Kushinagar (UP), May 29 A court here on Friday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife and two sons in 2021.
District and Sessions Judge Sanjeev Kumar Tyagi also imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh on the convict, Rajesh Gupta.
District Government Advocates G P Yadav and Laxman Pathak said the court ordered that the convict be hanged by the neck till death.
Giving details of the case, the advocates said that Amar Gupta of Belwa Khurd in Patherwa had lodged a complaint at the Turkapatti police station on September 7, 2021, alleging that his sister Nikki's husband Rajesh Gupta killed her and their two children -- Shivam (7) and Ayush (3) -- the previous night by slitting their throats.
A case was registered in the matter and the bodies were subsequently found inside the family's house. The weapons used in the crime, a sickle and a knife, were also recovered.
At the time of the incident, Nikki had been married to Rajesh for eight years.
